I'm currently Precision Medicine Lead for Late Oncology in AstraZeneca. In this role I am accountable for the delivery of companion diagnostics for drugs across the late oncology portfolio. My vision and ambition is aligned with AstraZeneca to eliminate cancer as a cause of death through scientific discovery and personalized treatment.I am a molecular biologist specialized in cancer research and trained in Germany-Munich (master thesis), Italy-Padua (Ph.D.), US-Boston (Postdoc), and Spain-Barcelona (Postdoc). I am passionate about translational cancer research because having an impact in the clinic is the reason why I joined the field. I am a resilient, hard-working, and motivated scientist, with an extensive background in cancer biology and therapies. Active role and knowledge in various stages of drug development: product characterization, preclinical studies, and clinical development. Dynamic and proactive. Seeking new challenges. Always happy to help.In the last 12 years, I led and managed translational research projects aimed at providing proof of mechanism of drug action and chemotherapy resistance and investigating innovative therapeutic strategies for cancer treatment. My primary research interest was investigating how cancer cells adapt to environmental changes and drug-induced stresses to rapidly change from a quiescent benign baseline to a proliferative-malignant and drug-resistant state. This research interest gradually developed through my research career and was associated closely with my research experience. I am a highly dynamic, flexible, motivated, and accomplished scientist with a strong background in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, CRISPR/Cas9 technology, Microscopy, Flow Cytometry, 3D Organoids Cell Culture, Animal Research, Drug Screening, and Proteomics.
