Background
About Chip Clatto
As an experienced educator of 26 years serving as a teacher and administrator, my leadership spans from the inner city, suburban and rural communities, in public, private, and independent schools, and at all three levels of elementary, middle, and high school. My focus has not only been on providing an academically challenging curriculum, but to produce lifelong learners, caring citizens, and the development of the whole child. My experience and personal traits align with the qualifications that high-performing organizations seek in exceptional leadership and my entrepreneurial acumen and my commitment to leading with integrity and building positive and productive cultures also lend themselves to any organization that strives for excellence. Throughout my career I have established a professional environment, focusing on accountability, improved instructional strategies, academic rigor, increased student growth opportunities, restorative practice discipline, and improved culture emphasizing high expectations. I have developed curricular offerings including, new STEAM programming including a STEAM Lab for Robotics and Odyssey of the Mind, pathways such as Project Lead the Way's (PLTW)"Launch" for elementary,"Gateway" middle school, and Biomedical Sciences, Computer Science, and Engineering pathways for high school. I also have school startup experience, as the creator and founding principal of the Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience, Magnet High School with is the 5th ranked public school in the State of Missouri, by US News. I developed the school's framework, designed the curriculum structure and wrote course descriptions, coordinated and supervised the implementation of the school's rigorous instructional programs, and developed positive community relations and corporate partnerships. I was responsible for all marketing, admissions oversight, school improvement implementation, teacher/staff evaluation and hiring, professional development coordination, and budget planning and oversight. My experience is also seen in my ability to develop an extremely influential and supportive advisory board, with the likes of the founder of Build a Bear Workshop, the President and CEO of Cortex (the bioscience and innovation center in St. Louis), and the former President and CEO of Novus International, plus I co-developed the schools master physical plant plan, which included a $26 million-dollar, science wing, gym, and theater expansion.
