About Chip Cosby

I'm a Mental Health Specialist for Jefferson County Public Schools. I'm part of the Re-Engagement Team, which means I work with students in alternative placements to help them get transitioned back to the comprehensive school system. I do case management, which includes school and home visits. I also have 17 years as a media professional in the state of Kentucky, in addition to management experience with the ability to effectively communicate and motivate a team. I’m deadline-driven with strong attention to detail, and can manage multiple tasks. I also have vast experience in gathering resources to deliver comprehensive communications material, along with the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with co-workers, team members and outside professionals. From my time as an instructor, TV show host and writer, I’ve also developed into an accomplished public speaker with strong oral and written communication skills. My writing background includes publishing and editing news stories, feature stories, television scripts, documentaries, web content, blogs, press releases and newsletters. I can type 90 words per minute, and I’m also adept at social media. My years in the sports media and television industry also have kept me in tune with what target audiences want to see out of a particular product. Lastly, I’ve developed close relationships with most of the major media markets and professionals in Kentucky, and also have extensive media contacts nationwide. At both the Lexington Herald-Leader and Insight/Time Warner, I took on special projects and excelled at them, both from the standpoint of planning and execution. I have experience working with and supervising people from all backgrounds and races and I have served as a mentor to various people, from college students to aspiring young reporters and broadcasters. I’m also proficient with all Microsoft programs. One final note, I’m a very quick learner. At all of my previous positions, I went in with very little experience. But due to my work ethic and willingness to learn, I was able to excel and thrive at each.
