About Chloe Bates

I am an experienced data analyst, working in roles within transport, finance and climate science. I currently work as a Senior Transport Consultant for City Science carrying out data analysis, technical leadership, transport planning and project management roles for the last two years over a range of projects. I have extensive experience handling large data sets of all types in both my current and previous roles. One such example is the work I did in developing an assessment tool for the Oxfordshire Infrastructure Strategy which relied on large geographical datasets spanning the whole county. This tool was a fully automated process for use in the local authority so was designed for a non-technical audience to use and interpret. With a clear, logical mind and a practical approach to problem solving I keep calm in stressful situations and get my head down until the work is done. I thrive in a team environment and work well on my own to complete specific tasks meeting tight deadlines, working to strict budgets and working on multiple projects at once. In my current role I have had to produce technical outputs and documents for a range of audiences from a technical project team to members of the public through public facing policy documents. Something I have always been passionate about is translating technical data so that it's accessible and understandable to all, helping them make decisions based on evidence. I am passionate about sustainability and making changes to help the climate emergency facing us all. In my current role I have been involved in decarbonisation and sustainability projects, requiring reading of transport related and wider policy documents. City Science is a decarbonisation-focussed company which has worked in the energy and transport sectors which has meant that I have had wider exposure to sustainability policies outside my current field. I enjoy working as part of a team and have regularly worked with colleagues of all levels of seniority within my team as well as colleagues within consultancy firms and client project teams. I have been working remotely since May 2020 and thrive in a remote setting, with occasional trips to an office to help build relationships with team members.
