About Chloe E. Girvan

Although a lawyer by trade (called to the bar in 2002), my career has been focused mainly in freelance writing, fund development, editing and communications roles. I have most recently been employed as a Communications Specialist at CHEO providing communications support to collaborative initiatives such as the Ottawa Child and Youth Initiative, 1Call1Click.ca, and the Kids Come First Health Team. In this very fulfilling role I had the opportunity to connect with partners, clients, healthcare providers, and the media. I am passionate about healthcare, community building and storytelling. Some of my local clients have included the Canadian Medical Association, Roger Neilson Children’s Hospice, Elmwood School, the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre, Crafted Stories, iPolitics, Sezlik.com, Colourcoding Media, Paul Jackson Realtor and Ottawa at Home Magazine. As a columnist for iPolitics, I was trusted to tell the personal stories of over 20 prominent Canadian, Inuit, Indigenous and American leaders. Subjects included three past and present Governor Generals, Co-leader of the Green Party, Elizabeth May, Leader of the NDP Party, Jagmeet Singh, former federal ministers, former Speaker of the House, Geoff Regan, ITK President Natan Obed, former National Chief of the AFN, Perry Bellegarde, Dr. Jen Gunter, Mark Critch and more. My work has also been published in the Toronto Star, Arctic Journal, Sage Magazine and the Hill Times. I believe that everyone has a story and something valuable to contribute. It is a privilege to have been able to build a career that allows me to listen, learn and work to make a positive difference.
