About Chloe McCluskey

Hello, my name is Chloe McCluskey and I am recent graduate from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Special Education. I am a very ambitious and outgoing person. I love to hike with my dog, travel to new places, and indulge in different cultures. I began my special education career with the desire to bring a quality education to students who need it most. I am a quick learner and a hard worker. I am skilled with technology and able to make materials for the class. I am experienced in child care and have a passion for teaching. I have a lot of experience working with children. Since the age of 16, I have spent my summers babysitting kids between the ages of 4 months to 13 years old. After many years of babysitting, I decided to branch out and apply to be a school age teacher at Kids Korner in Carbondale. This past summer, I worked at Kids Korner as a fourth-grade teacher. I am currently in my first year of teaching in the Douglas County School District as a 5th and 6th grade learning specialist. I got my first job as soon as I received my driving license. I worked as a cashier at the locally owned grocery store in my hometown. I worked at this establishment for 2 years before working at the Subway in a neighboring town. I worked at this fast food chain for 3 years. When I began college, I got a new job with a more convenient location because I was a commuting student. I was hired as a sales associate at Shoe Sensation in the Marion mall. After a year of working as a sales associate, I was promoted to assistant manager. I enjoyed my time at Shoe Sensation, but decided to search for a new job when my manager at the time left her job. I also worked for Fujiyama Japanese Steakhouse in Marion. I spent two years with this resturaunt as a waitress. I also spent time working on campus for the Provost Office and the SIU Foundation.
