About Chloe Parker

I am a Master of Applied Psychology student, specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis. Forming part of my degree I was given the opportunity to represent the University of Waikato as a Behavioural Supervisee at a Primary School, where I administered the Verbal Behaviour – Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) for a child with ASD and GDD. I have a Bachelor of Science Honours in Psychology majoring in Neuroscience from The University of Auckland and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Communication Science from Varsity College. I am now in my 2nd year of the Masters degree and I am in the process of collecting data for my thesis which focuses on exploring the capabilities of dogs in detecting various scents, with a particular focus on intermittent reinforcement for complex and simple samples. The results from my study will directly inform a previous lung cancer scent detection research project, addressing issues encountered with complex sample compositions and intermittent reinforcement. I am excited to contribute to overcoming these challenges and advancing the field's capabilities. Throughout the year, I will be acquiring invaluable hands-on experience, including conducting myself appropriately in a chemistry lab environment. From mixing chemicals to performing acid washing, I am dedicated to mastering essential laboratory techniques to support my research endeavors.
