About Chloe Shaw

I've had an intrest in the stem field since secondary school where my passion for biology grew, this branched me into studying applied science level 2 at Poole and Bournemouth college which allowed me to gain an additional 4 GCSEs on top of those already achieved. I progressed onto level 3 biomedical science with extended diploma at college, within this course I exceeded strongly due to my determination to thrive academically to progress into university. Biomedical science was an interesting course and I put a lot of time into my research and work which was reflected when achieving D*D*D and being awarded bronze Pearson student of the year award for science 2020 causing me to appear in local news articles. Alongside college I gained experience in employment, I pot washed for a local entertainment farm from 2017-2018 and worked as a crew member at McDonald's from 2018-2021, both of which provided me relative skills for employment and public engagement which boosted my confidence and allowed me to save for my car in the meanwhile. In October 2020 I began my first year of university after being accepted at Portsmouth university studying the bachelor degree with honours marine biology, this course was of particular intrest to me due to my peaked enthusiasm of microbiology whilst also having a passion to learn about marine life and conservation, this course was very motivating however due to unforeseen circumstances after completing my first year with a merit achieved I moved my credits to Bournemouth University to complete my second and third year which I now hold a 2:1 in biological sciences with honours. During the second year of my bachelor degree I also engaged in further employment by working flexible hours at a SEN school locally. This allowed me to gain more experience and skills in the workplace whilst helping individuals with complex needs learn, this was a very fulfilling and rewarding job however due to the high workload at university I focused more on studying for the remainder of the second year and now my final year, i have also been a chemistry technician at a secondary school since leaving university. Alongside employment and academic experience, I enjoy scuba diving and am a PADI open water diver which naturally also makes me enjoy snorkelling, I also enjoy electronic music festivals. I am currently beginning hiking due to my love for walking with my Labrador retriever and also enjoy mushroom identification. I have also engaged with work and volunteering for a conservation charity called Eucan.
