About Chris Armstrong

I am a partner in the Corporate Restructuring Group at Goodmans, the leading restructuring practice in Canada. My focus is to give clients not just the best legal advice, but the best strategic counsel in a given situation, with a focus on practicality, efficiency and getting the deal done. Based out of Toronto, I have worked on deals big and small, domestic and international, with a particular focus on US/Canada cross-border restructurings. We routinely act for companies working through cash flow or capital structure issues, lenders looking to protect and maximize their investment in distressed companies, as well as purchasers of distressed assets, both in the context of formal court-supervised proceedings and out of court reorgs or other value maximizing transactions. Over the past several years I have also had the privilege of teaching the corporate restructuring course at Western University Law School, introducing the next generation of the profession to what is one of the most interesting, multi-faceted and challenging areas of corporate law. It is a fantastic way to stay on top of the latest legal developments and give a little something back, and I have found it to be an extremely rewarding experience. Outside the office, I spend time with my wife and two daughters at our cottage, getting out on the kayak and gravel bike as often as possible. A former competitive hockey player, I also still manage to strap on the pads once a week in the Downtown Toronto Men's Hockey League.
