About Chris Bates

I am a public health professional with a broad range of experiences in noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and health economics, in developing countries. Experienced in various aspects of public health such as system-level NCD management, pharmaceutical procurement, national strategic planning, health systems strengthening, planning specialist services, regional partnership development, and health financing. My practiced skills include multi-national situation analyses, cancer registry development and analysis, and M&E, plus understanding of the various health policies and priorities developing environments. My work experience has varied from community to multi-national programme settings in the Asia-Pacific region, within government, non-government and UN agencies. I have a vision of broadening my influence to a global level in order to support a larger population towards improved physical, mental and social well-being, with my particular area of passion being cancer control and advocacy in low resource settings. I am a member of the SIOP Oceania Technical Advisory Board and Oceania representative on the SIOP Advocacy Committee.
