About Chris Beckwith

My role as the ÄKTA & chromatography specialist for Oxford and south west of the UK is diverse and challenging from both the technical and commercial perspectives. My priorities are focussed on leading the development of chromatography and provide solutions to complex problems in life sciences. ÄKTA systems have led the way in the development of modern chromatography and remain the strongest and most versatile solution to any chromatography experiment. My goal is to ensure researchers and scientists in the life sciences space are able to access the knowledge and resources required to tackle the greatest challenges of today to aid discovery and share a journey towards improving our quality of life for the future.My previous research focussed on the purification of bacterial membrane and soluble proteins, then structural, biophysical and electrochemical characterisation. I have extensive experience of liquid chromatography and all protein purification techniques in addition to associated chromatography skills, such as column packing, process development and design of experiments. My experience of biophysical characterisation of purified proteins includes the application of AUC (analytical ultracentrifugation), DLS (dynamic light scattering) and macromolecular X-ray crystallography to determine the size, shape and atomic structure of proteins.
