About Chris Budd

I'm a passionate self-starter with over 18 years experience in the music industry. I specialize in account management, marketing, distribution, creative branding and social media, with strong communication skills and project management adeptness. I founded music publishing company and song brokerage Bearsuit Publishing. Starting with a shoestring budget with a diverse and unknown musical roster, I grew Bearsuit to be recognized as a reputable niche portal for great music to a sizeable client base. Since 2007, I've licensed hundreds of songs to notable television shows, films and advertisements, realizing sales growth of 25% yearly. I created (and continue to run) the music blog Indie Music Filter; a trusted source for new music featuring monthly streaming playlists and contributions from various music writers and artists. The brand was voted in the “Top 100 Influential Music Blogs” by Style of Sound, 2014 and in the “Top 20 Most Influential Music Blogs in the World” by the Music Blog Directory, 2014). I worked as a Sales Representative for Distribution Select (formerly Canada's largest independent distributor of music and film) with Independent and Chain retailers in Ontario and Eastern Canada. Currently I'm the Manager of Distributed Labels for Warner Music Canada, working with a long list of Canadian and International Labels and Artists. I help music creators distribute and marketing their music in the Canadian and International landscape, through digital and physical mediums-I have a passion for meeting new people and developing lasting long-term relationships-I crave new challenges and opportunities-I seek opportunities to learn, improve and adapt-I thrive working in teams toward common goals-I always root for the underdog.
