About Chris Coath

Chris is a specialist transport planner and traffic engineer with over 20 years of experience encompassing an extensive range of car parking strategies, land use planning and design, integrated transport plans, traffic and transport planning, masterplan development, traffic engineering impact assessments, transport research and expert presentations at Tribunal and Planning Panel hearings. A particular focus and passion of Chris’ work has been in developing best practice car parking strategies which have included works at a number of state-significant city and town centre locations across Australia and internationally. Chris' extensive parking expertise includes parking policy development, strategy, management, paid parking systems, car parking technology and economic impacts (including revenue and cost implications). His work in the preparation of city and town centre parking strategies ensures competing activity centre demands (parking, pedestrians, cyclists, public transport and loading/servicing) are balanced to achieve resource efficiency, urban design, place making and economic prosperity objectives. Chris has worked with municipalities across Australia with Council’s strategy examples including Footscray, Box Hill, Broadmeadows, Brunswick, Dandenong CBD, Doncaster Hill, Liverpool CBD, Newcastle CBD, Fyshwick, Woden, Belconnen, Parliamentary Zone (ACT), Ipswich, Evandale / Bundall, Kwinana and Rosny Park and Bellerive. Chris also has extensive experience in managing a variety of large projects. He has been intimately involved in the preparation of a number of major development proposals including the Melbourne Arts Precinct, Melbourne Convention Centre and South Wharf Precinct. Chris also co-presents the PIA PLANET Course – ‘Traffic and Parking Assessments’ and has prepared a number of conference papers, which are available through my profile.
