Background
About Chris Covert
I am a multi-disciplinary cross-functional leader for the modern enterprise. But, beyond that, I'm just a down-to-earth father that believes heavily in building communities, encouraging sustainable development, and building for tomorrow while keeping the human in mind. To these ends, I believe a few things are critical in the modern enterprise/modern economy for a holistically successful org. This is my free advice: 0) Set Exciting Goals - if your goals aren't interesting, nobody wants to sacrifice for them, even you. 1) Assume Positive Intent - Everyone is generally trying to improve things. Don't lose sight of that, and keeping positive intent in mind will encourage openness and authenticity from your teams. 2) Conflict(s) Are Valuable - Debate and disagreement is valuable, but in the context of #1, argumentation is not.("Disagree and commit", but emphasize that voicing disagreement is good.) 3) Security Build/Maintain Guardrails - Generally should not be police (in most civilian industries) 4) Freedom to Fail (early and often)- It's necessary to learn new things, of which the supply is endless. 5) Track What Matters - Let go of things you don't track, because they must not matter that much. Through these core values, I have built new Security, Quality, and Trust orgs from scratch, executed successful turnarounds for Engineering and Product orgs, launched new products, and driven organizational change in both the world's largest market (US) and most discerning (Japan). I will bring perspective your organization has not yet heard, and will self-direct and execute wherever possible to bring your org to new levels of excellence. but I prefer to lead teams and develop people, even more than I enjoy developing processes or technology.
