About Chris Davison
I am a senior scientist and software developer with extensive experience in code development, building software architectures and solving problems within geophysical processing and the oil and gas industry. I started my career working in research and technology for British Gas. Following this I undertook a doctorate in mathematics at the University of Loughborough, and have since worked in the seismic imaging and acquisition industry as a developer of geophysical software with a particular emphasis on signal processing. This was initially with CGG and then with PGS, until they were taken over by TGS. I now work for Shearwater GeoServices, global leader in the acquisition, processing and interpretation of seismic data. My skills involve software development with C++, C, MATLAB and FORTRAN, engineering software architectures, High Performance Computing including parallel computing using Open MPI and OpenMP, developing new technologies and working with clients on technical issues.
