The pace of business continues to multiply and modern finance teams have an important role in helping to identify and drive value-enhancing opportunity across the business. We simply cannot afford to keep doing business the way it has always been done. Good information will drive quality business decisions. Traditional historical reporting will hold a diminishing proportion of the finance team’s activities as they implement lean measures and drive efficiency through our own, and the organisation’s, processes and controls. Finance will be comfortable in the role of Business Coaches and Insight Providers to the rest of the organisation. By investing in talent and keeping abreast of the fast moving technology landscape the finance team can leverage opportunities to create value and provide a strong control environment for the ever increasing volumes of company information making its way into the public domain.
