About Chris Diforte

As an Assistant Principal at New Dorp High School and the Supervisor of the Institute of Forensic Science and Criminology Smaller Learning Community, I am dedicated to fostering academic excellence and personal growth among students. I have extensive experience leading departments in science, social studies, physical education, and the arts, and I play a key role in driving curriculum innovation, including adopting the NYSSLS/NGSS standards and expanding Advanced Placement offerings.My leadership extends beyond academics: I manage student discipline through restorative justice programs, lead crisis response teams, and ensure effective administration of testing and student services. As a liaison to The College of Staten Island, I facilitate collaborations and events that enrich our students’ educational experience.Previously, I served as an Assistant Principal at College of Staten Island High School for International Studies, where I led a range of initiatives, including curriculum development, student safety programs, and the introduction of cutting-edge science programs. Additionally, my background as a Dean, teacher, and sustainability coordinator at New Dorp High School has allowed me to nurture a holistic, supportive school environment, where I facilitated conflict resolution and mediation programs, organized large-scale events, and mentored both students and faculty.Through my roles, I have developed a deep understanding of data analysis, educational technology, and program management, and have used these tools to improve student achievement and school operations. My commitment to building strong, collaborative communities drives my passion for education and innovation.
