About Chris Downs

Dr. Chris Downs is a Developmental Psychologist with 35+ years of academic, research, practical, policy, and community service to older youth and young adults associated with child welfare and education. Chris is also author of published works of Historical Fiction and Solo Consulting. Writing under the pen name "Christopher Ringle," Chris is midway through publication of a book series based on the Casper family of rural north central Indiana during the period 1848 to 1977. The first,"The Patriarch", was published in 2021 and focuses on John Casper, a kind and loving souse and father of a large family. The second,"The Different Son" was published in 2022 and is about the life and times of one of John Casper's sons: Irvy Casper. Irvy's story is one of growing up a gay youth during a time of extreme oppression of gay people in the midwest. The third,"Dottie's Story," and fourth,"The Monster" books in the series are forthcoming.
