About Chris Eide

I am a patent partner in DLA Piper's Palo Alto office. My practice concentrates on domestic and international patent prosecution, strategic planning, due diligence, technology licensing and intellectual property disputes involving complex technology. I frequently work on matters involving critical technology infrastructure, including Internet and software technology, natural language processing, machine learning, virtual and augmented reality technology, unmanned aerial vehicle software and hardware, semiconductors, data storage, and medical devices. I provide patent prosecution and counseling services to companies of all sizes, from industry leaders to early-stage companies. I obtained my J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2001. While in law school, I served as an associate editor for the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review, and was a member of the Intellectual Property Student Association. I also worked as a graduate student instructor in the University of Michigan physics department where I taught undergraduate laboratory courses in mechanics and electromagnetism. I received a B.S. in Physics from the University of Washington with departmental honors, and while obtaining my undergraduate degree worked as a research assistant in a low-temperature laboratory where I received the Mary Gates Endowment Award for my studies of quantum mono-layers. I am registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and am a member of the California State Bar. I am also actively involved in several local and national intellectual property and patent law organizations. In my free time I am an avid trail runner, running distances from marathons to over 100 miles.
