About Chris Flory

I'm a 2021 graduate of Mount Carmel College of Nursing's adult-gerontological acute care nurse practitioner (AG-ACNP) program, as well as a recipient of MCCN's Dr. Ann E. Schiele Caring Award. Prior to graduating, I had been a staff nurse since 2008 in a number of settings (med-surg, long-term acute care, critical care, and hospice). I love medicine and nursing both, and and love using both my mind and my heart at work. My work offers endless mental stimulation, and I'm enjoying evolving into a better, smarter, stronger provider. I have a passion for the intellectual stimulation and rigor of acute care-the more I learn, the more fascinated I am by the complexity and beauty of human functioning. I was the pathophysiology nerd of my NP class, and it still shows. Yet I also treasure the holism and humanity of hospice. I excel at building rapport with 'difficult' patients or families and with those who are suffering, and am learning to fold in excellent evidence-based medicine at the same time.
