About Chris Gonzalez

I have a strong interest in computers and technology along with a joy of problem solving. Those two traits combined have helped me reach where I am at currently and I am looking to grow even more. The period right after graduating high school was a time of uncertainty for me, I was unsure about what my career should be and what my future would look like as a result. I spent time sifting through different programs offered at my local technical college. I ended up choosing the Software Development program offered at the school. I still had a feeling of uncertainty, however. I had no experience prior to entering that program (not even creating a simple HTML web page) and was worried that the concepts would be too complicated for me to grasp. I ended up enjoying the courses much more than expected. Yes, at first the the concepts were pretty difficult to grasp. But once I had that "Aha!" moment (or several "Aha!" moments), I found that learning new programming concepts became easier. I needed to have patience and I needed to train my brain to think in a different manner. Feeling much more confident with my career choice, I finished the software development program in three years while still working full-time. I found myself with a full-time software developer position not too long after graduation. I look to continue improving my technical skills as well as my core skills. I enjoy learning new technology, new concepts, and new ways of problem solving. I love helping others whether the person I am helping is an end-user or someone on my team. I believe having the right resources and help is important towards reaching one's goals. I had some excellent instructors during my time in school and I believe that made a huge difference in how prepared I was for the real world. That is why I hope to one day teach programming to beginners and hopefully become a positive influence on their lives.
