About Chris Hewitt

I am a Professional Engineer, licensed to practice in the Canadian Provinces of Manitoba, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories and the Territory of The Yukon. I am a LEED Accredited Professional, with an interest in the design and construction of sustainable buildings and forensic electrical engineering. I am a UK Chartered Engineer, and a member of the Institution of Electrical Technology. In 2009, I was awarded the Top 40 Under 40 Award for engineering professionals in North America, by Consulting-Specifying Engineer. In 2012, I was a finalist in the Future Leaders of Manitoba award. I have lived and practiced Electrical Engineering all over the world including Thailand, Singapore and London. In 2003, I accepted employment with SMS Engineering Ltd, and moved to Canada, where in 2004, I became a Partner. I have experience in electrical forensic investigations having worked on numerous claims with insurers, loss adjusters and lawyers. I am a Court appointed Expert Witness. In 2012, I was presented with two awards of merit by the Illuminating Engineers Society for the lighting design installed at the Richardson College for the Environment (University of Winnipeg) and the Baggage Claim Hall lighting at the new Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. Specialties: Electrical engineering, lighting design, sustainable design, project and design management and forensic engineering. Construction fields include data centre, telecommunication facilities, transportation (airports and ground transportation facilities), car factories.
