About Chris Hooper

Chris Hooper is a lifelong learner with 19 years of Life Insurance industry experience. He is the Chief Underwriter at BUI and has a passion for helping families, businesses and insurance companies reach favorable underwriting solutions. Areas of expertise include Financial Underwriting, Medical Underwriting, Avocational Underwriting, EKG Interpretation, Negotiation, Team Leadership, Strategy, Process Efficiency, Marketing, and Life Insurance. Well-versed in multiple reinsurance underwriting manuals and carrier underwriting guidelines. Extensive BGA channel experience including roles as a BGA Chief Underwriter working directly with Agents, Senior Underwriter on Carrier BGA team, and Carrier Regional Vice President serving as primary contact for BGAs throughout Western and Midwestern USA. Background includes expertise in large case and special risk underwriting including frequent facilitation of six-figure individual life insurance capacity placement. Chris is a frequent presenter at seminars, producer meetings and other industry events. In 2023, Chris was nominated and selected to join the Association of Home Office Underwriters (AHOU) Program Committee. He is also a longstanding member of the LIBRA (formerly LIFEMARK) Underwriting Symposium Planning Committee. Chris holds an MBA from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and a BS in Marketing from Winona State University. He is a Fellow in the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and Life Management Institute (FLMI). Chris has also earned associate designations in Reinsurance Administration (ARA) and Customer Service (ACS) from LOMA, and the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation from the American College of Financial Services.
