About Chris Ivory

Chris Ivory is a Professor of Innovation Management at Märladalens University. He holds a PhD from Manchester University on Innovation in Construction. Chris has a written about technology change, technology and work, innovation, the role of the client in innovation and project management for leading journals such as New Technology Work and Employment, Government Information Quarterly, British Journal of Management, Planning Theory, Long Range Planning, R&D Management and Construction Management and Economics. He has also co-authored a Routledge book on Managing Complex Projects (2013). Chris is presently researching the potential of industry 5.0 (human-robot relations) by exploring the changing nature of technical and managerial work in industry in Sweden, Germany, Italy and the UK (UpSkill) This research is funded by a 5 million Euro Horizon Europe grant, based on his previous Interreg- funded research, exploring the uptake of industry 4.0 technology amongst manufacturing SMEs in the North Sea region. Chris is also presently leading the UK team working on a £1.5 million collaborative research project looking at the digitisation of management in the UK and Sweden (funded by FORTE) and for a major ERDF-funded project looking at the de-carbonisation of regional SMEs (Eastern New Energy). Chris has also led on research for a major gas utility examining the role of mobile communications and repair diagnostic technologies and has worked on large ERDF and EPSRC projects examining innovation in complex projects. He has also worked with various Police forces on a consultancy basis supporting their technology benefits realisation and project management work. Chris was an AIM Scholar working on business school strategy.
