Knowledge of paint systems in the automotive, industrial, aerospace, MOD, rail, Highways and petrochemical sectors. Working for 30 years with paint systems which include high build wet paint systems, tank linings, automotive wet paint systems (both solvent based and water based), electrophoretic coating, powder, plastic and nylon coatings. Application methods include standard pneumatic manual spraying, hvlp, electrostatic, air assisted airless and airless to plc controlled spray plants with automatic adjustment to air, paint, reciprocator speed and gun distance and robotic application. Trained with The Institute of Corrosion in inspection methods for testing paint systems and worked with RAL, MUNSELL, BS, FEDERAL colour systems plus numerous automotive colour palettes including Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce & JLR. Specified new plant and equipment for powder coating, wet painting and blast cleaning applications. Tested paint systems for Automotive customers using their own or Industry Standard specifications for paints and varnishes as well as analysing faults that are commonly found in the paint application process.
