About Chris Judd

Accomplished Business Leader with over 30 years retail experience in the not for profit and private sectors. Key areas of expertise include: income generation, leading major change programmes, strategic planning, business development, commercial awareness, budgets and finance, P&L management, volunteering (strategy and operations) and stakeholder engagement. Successful income generation is about highly motivated people and quality products, whether that is physical stock or fundraising activities. I have led my team to deliver significant improvements in productivity, business management and the development of new and successful store layouts. My team including, our large cohort of volunteers has been inspired to deliver exceptional performance because of engagement activities which I have put into place. As Head of Retail at Children’s Hospice South West, I have taken the retail business to a chain of 38 shops, generating £4.4m in turnover over the 2021/22 financial year, from £2.6m in 2015/16. This has been achieved by opening 8 (net) shops as well as managing the portfolio including closures and relocations. During my career my commercial skills have grown in a more general Business Development and Leadership direction. My substantial Income Generation experience has given me a thorough understanding of the Third Sector and its current issues.
