About Chris Karr

Hi! My name is Chris, and I am the Lead Retention Specialist for Graduation and Retention Initiatives at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Concurrently, I am an adjunct professor of art history at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC), and a freelance writer on visual culture. Prior, I taught at UTSA as a part-time adjunct professor of art history in Spring 2024. I was a fellow with the Museum of Fine Arts-Houston from January - June 2024, where I recommended documents for digitization that pertain to Latino art history. This initiative was generously supported by the Terra Foundation. My previous museum/gallery experience extends to my time as a Gallery Assistant at TAMUCC from 2019 - 2021, and as the director's intern for Artpace San Antonio in summer 2022. My skills include being a self-starter, creative, and persistent in my work. I consider myself an artist, an art historian, and an administrator who deeply cares about public education. I enjoy collaborative efforts to ensure prosperous, student-centered initiatives! Lastly, I am a proud fronterizo, as a product of the Rio Grande Valley.
