About Chris Kling

First and foremost - I'm a blessed survivor of congenital hydrocephalus. My first brain surgery at five weeks old; two more before I reached two years old; a fourth when I was nine years old. Two epileptic seizures in 2016, causing a Traumatic Brain Injury which caused a procedure which surgically examined the results on my hydrocephalus from the TBI. I'm a blessed survivor of both skin cancer and renal cell carcinoma. I'm blessed to have had back surgery and neck surgery - both within the years 2013-2014. I'm blessed to have had an ulcer repaired - and infusion of 8 pints of blood - donated by strangers during an 11 day stay in the hospital between the last week of January 2025 and first week of February 2025. I speak of these blessings not in a bragging manner, but in a very grateful attitude towards my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I've been serving lumber & building supply customers in Eastern North Carolina since 1989. I started at Askew's Building Supply, which was then bought out by New Bern Building Supply - which furloughed me for a month or so, and I worked at Lowes, before returning to New Bern Building Supply, which was then bought out by Garris Evans, and I've been helping most of the same customers ever since (well, those who are still with us.) I'm actually shocked to be serving not only second generation - but even THIRD generation contractors I've known since then. I’ve also got neuropathy in my feet and legs and am very dependent upon two hearing aids. PERO PUEDO TRADUCIR MUY RÁPIDO CON LA AYUDA DE MI COMPUTADORA, PORQUE RECUERDO CÓMO SE DELETREA LO QUE ME DICEN On the side, I've been an independent contractor with the New Bern Sun Journal, researching and writing a weekly column called "Up Beat". a daily contributor to The Morning Show on WTKF, and a blessed husband of 40 years and father of three since 1987. Some other hobbies include performing on stage - behind keyboards and guitars - with bands in a variety of styles of music. Sidekick - a six-piece country band; The RetroRockets - a three-piece vintage rock & roll band; and the Carolina Casuals - a seven piece "Carolina Beach Music" band. Recently three songs I composed have been recorded by studio musicians at AOK Records in Nashville with Mike Lusk providing the vocals. Whether at work - or play -"TEAMWORK" with a professional air is my goal.
