About Chris McCarthy

I am particularly interested in delivering efficient and well thought out building systems including renewable technologies to give the Client a great product. I try to apply this approach to all of the projects I am involved in. I have been a Mechanical Engineer with Arup in the UK for five years and during this time I have gained experience of MEP design in industrial, educational, commercial, performing arts, sports and custodial sectors. From working in these sectors I have gained an excellent grounding in mechanical engineering design and working in a 3D BIM environment. My experience has covered a broad range of detail from initial project feasibility to detailed and construction design. Leading MEP teams on industrial projects to achieve efficient and well thought out has been best achievement in this time. Implementing new methods of building services modelling and calculations using BIM allowed these designs to be delivered to a construction level on time and well within budget. My position within my team has also involved me assisting my group in winning work through bids and interviews. My role also includes managing the technical skills and knowledge sharing of the rest of my group.
