About Chris McRae

I currently lead the valuation and reporting team for Manulife Canada's Retail life (non-par) and living benefits business. This includes accountability for valuation, quarterly reporting, and supporting various initiatives to optimize the risk and return profile of our block. I love to solve problems and strive to provide clear concise communication to my stakeholders, including the Chief Actuary and CFO. Prior to my current role I specialized in the disciplined execution of large scale actuarial projects including the implementation of IFRS 17 for Manulife Canada, the integration of Manulife's acquisition of Standard Life, and the design and implementation of a new end-to-end reporting system for our Affinity business. Through these experiences I've learned the importance of making complex topics real by translating them into clear business implications. Previous roles include pricing and reserving for group and variable annuities and identifying and redressing causes of hedging basis risk.
