About Chris Meffley

I used to take care of large carnivores, now I take care of bugs. I am a Colorado Springs based software engineer that pivoted from a successful 10+ years in animal care. I discovered many similarities between my old career and new one, including: problem solving, efficient communication, adaptability and passion. Success in the animal world is quite similar to the engineering world. I worked in small teams to reach necessary objectives for the betterment of my employer. How do you safely weigh a Tiger? You break it down into steps: allow the tiger to be comfortable seeing a scale, then be comfortable touching it, and finally be at ease standing on it. The same goes for creating and implementing efficient, usable code. You break the goal down into smaller, manageable tasks to reach the endpoint. I thoroughly enjoy finding solutions to complex problems. I am eager to become more proficient in the languages I already know and to learn new technologies to not only help myself, but my cohorts as well. Growth lies outside of the comfort zone. I am an Ironman finisher, an Eagle Scout and outdoor enthusiast. If I am not in front of my computer, you will find me outside hiking, cycling or training for my next endurance adventure.
