About Chris Milsom

I am a self-employed barrister operating at the cutting-edge of employment and equality law having appeared at every appellate level including the Supreme Court. Having made over 35 appearances in the Industrial Relations Law Reports, I am rated as a top 50 advocate for all-time appearances in the IRLR since its first publication over forty years ago. Many of my cases have been debated in Parliament and frequently generate both national and international media coverage. Highlights include the first successful claim of caste-based discrimination, securing the rights of ethical vegans to be protected from belief-based discrimination and the first case of unjustified dismissal following the "Windrush" scandal. Particular expertise in sexual harassment litigation (including high-profile disputes against Harvey Weinstein and Oxfam), whistleblowing, worker status issues, cross-border disputes and "clash of rights" cases (especially in the arena of freedom of expression within the workplace). Outside the courtroom I am known as an adept and sensitive pair of hands for internal investigations. I have been appointed to both the EHRC and the Government Legal Department Panels of Counsel.
