About Chris Money

With a surname like mine, I couldn't have been anything other than an accountant. It's a conversation starter…. Sometimes it can be the trigger for some witty banter when asked "so what is it you do?". Unfortunately, most end with "I bet you've heard that before" and me returning an apologetic nod. So why do I put myself through it? Well, aside from being a glutton for punishment, I like to help people. Whether that's advising someone how to avoid being a "busy fool" as they seek to scale their business, or saving people tax by maximising their allowances and creating efficient remuneration strategies. I've been involved in the accounting profession since I was 16. I'm now.no longer 16. I've found that, contrary to popular belief, being an accountant can be a very sociable profession. I like speaking to people about their business. I like to listen to their thoughts on their industry. Hearing the challenges that are unique to them and discussing the ones that aren't. With clients ranging from financial services to laser testing, you learn so much about the various nuances of a business in different sectors. Being able to provide that nugget of advice to help someone with a problem, or give them one problem less, is easily the most rewarding part of my job.
