As an experienced recruiter, I know that a successful search involves communicating openly with clients and candidates to understand their goals, needs, and preferences. Those conversations are essential to ensure a good match. It goes beyond what is on a job description or keywords listed in resumes. I am passionate about learning my clients' needs, goals, and their organizational culture to ensure a search is focused on the right talent. I am equally passionate about meeting candidates to learn about their experience and skills, as well as their preferences in an organization where they will not just work but can thrive. Through my recruiting experience, I have learned that being an ‘order taker’ benefits no one, but it is certainly easier and quite common. When a client or a candidate has expectations that don’t align with the market, it is far better to have an honest conversation to set realistic expectations. While it can be challenging, the outcome is always better – whether as a successful match, or simply building relationships based on honesty and respect. Lastly – I absolutely love searching for needles in haystacks. What’s even better is having the insight and experience to know that the best haystacks may not be in sight (but you know where to find them).
