About Chris Murphy

Have you ever wondered why public speaking is a challenge to many people? Public speaking is a not usually taught at school yet we go to work and it is expected that you can do it. It would be a pretty poor show if we learnt to drive that way, or pilots were trained like that! Does that sounds familiar to you? It did for me. Like many I struggled when presenting, mind going blank, anxious and not sure how to structure a presentation. So, when I was training to be a physiotherapist, I tried to present as much as I could. I also attended numerous training courses. I eventually worked as a physiotherapist for 20 years, qualified as a teacher and ran a training business. In more recent years I have been running a Toastmasters International public speaking club since 2017 and after running their training events and mentoring multiple members, I became a speaking mentor and presentation trainer. Through Toastmasters, I also won 2 National Speaking Contest finals in 2020. I tell you that so you can see I have trodden the path and throughout I've learnt a huge amount about public speaking and why people struggle with it and as a result I've learnt how I can help you. My previous career as a Chartered Physiotherapist taught me the importance of building a trusted relationship with your clients and that holds true today.
