Award-winning journalist with experience writing and editing for broadcast, digital and print news outlets. I am the Politics & Government Editor at Sacramento's NPR affiliate, Capital Public Radio. Previously, I covered Homelessness and Housing Affordability at the station. My work includes producing short and long-form digital and broadcast news stories, editing digital and broadcast stories, speaking on live radio, podcasts and serving as a speaker and moderator for public affairs panels. Before that, I led the station's fact-checking initiative PolitiFact California, where I produced and edited fact checks and debunked misinformation across the state. Before joining Capital Public Radio, I was the Sacramento-based State Government and Politics reporter for the San Diego Union-Tribune. I also wrote the "Ask Mr. Commute" column along with in-depth transportation articles for the newspaper. In the past, I've covered public safety, courts, education, politics, city hall, and agriculture at papers including the Sonora Union-Democrat, the Lodi News-Sentinel and the North County Times in Escondido.
