About Chris Robbins

I am a professional meteorologist & entrepreneur. I earned my master's and bachelor's degrees in meteorology, along with a minor in mathematics from the University of Oklahoma. I have published peer-reviewed papers in AMS journals and I have participated in AMS conferences. In 2008, I founded iWeatherNet, LLC. My meteorological consulting is focused primarily in the Southern Plains and the Southeast, with most of my clientele in North Texas (including the D/FW Metroplex) and northern Georgia (including the Atlanta metro). I have local expertise of the climatology/microclimatology in these areas. I have developed professional relationships with numerous city managers, emergency managers, and a few local directors of the EMA. I was awarded honorary lifetime member of the National Weather Service Employee's Organization. I like to help others and try to work closely with other meteorologists, including the National Weather Service and private-sector organizations, to help raise public awareness of hazardous weather events and expected impacts. I enjoy networking with others in the meteorological community and prefer to operate/network in a manner devoid of scientific arrogance. We meteorologists need to bridge the operational and research communities, and work together to provide the best weather forecasts and decision support possible in the interest of public safety.
