About Chris Rooney

Chris is a passionate and well-rounded technology professional with 20 years of experience delivering technology solutions to make businesses run more efficiently. In high school, he started a website development company, drumming up business by handing out flyers in neighbourhood parking lots. He went on to acquire a degree from one of the top Computer Science programs in North America, gaining 2 years of software development experience via co-op positions. Chris then worked as a full-time software developer for a few years before being offered a management opportunity. After 8 successful years in IT management roles with a large retail energy company, Chris could no longer ignore his passion for hands-on work and set out on his own to launch Diazo Solutions Inc, an IT consulting firm, in September 2012. Through his experience in a variety of roles at different organizational levels, Chris has collected a very deep and diverse range of skills that enable him to fill the ever-present need in business for a multidimensional technology expert. He communicates effectively with experts to quickly grasp the nuances of a particular process. He is comfortable delivering on-premise software, as well as cloud-based solutions leveraging flexible on-demand infrastructure such as Amazon Web Services. Where packaged solutions are not available or cost-effective, Chris is able to develop custom software using a variety of languages including Java.NET and Python. He is a seasoned expert in database technologies including SQL Server, Redshift, DynamoDB and MySQL. In addition to his technical expertise, he has the leadership experience to manage projects and resources to ensure deliveries are on time and on budget. Most importantly, Chris keeps the big picture in mind and identifies opportunities for consolidation and integration to drive efficiency.
