About Chris Ross

I am proud to serve as the President of the Montreal Firefighters Association, where I honourably represent over 2,400 professional firefighters dedicated to protecting our beautiful city. In addition to this role, I am a lieutenant at Station 74 in TMR, a position that allows me to stay connected to the field and the daily challenges faced by our teams. Before assuming the presidency of the APM in June 2018, I served as the association's vice-president for seven years and as a union director for District 6 for eight years. My journey began as a firefighter in 1994, and I climbed the ranks to become a lieutenant, an experience that has shaped me both professionally and personally. I am passionate about all aspects of labour relations, whether it be negotiations, grievance management, or the pension plan. My active participation in three cycles of collective bargaining and arbitration has provided me with valuable expertise. I also co-chaired the health and safety committee for seven years, specializing in prevention and compensation, including managing cases with the CNESST, DRA, and TAT. As a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), I contribute to the technical committees that develop NFPA standards 1585 and 1710, demonstrating my commitment to excellence and safety in our profession. Since 2018, I have had the honour of presiding over the Regroupement des associations des pompiers du Québec (RAPQ). In addition to this role, I also lend my skills as a board member for both the Fondation des pompiers du Québec pour les grands brûlés (FPQGB) and the Association paritaire pour la santé et la sécurité du travail, secteur affaires municipales (APSAM) In 2024 I was elected Vice President of the International Association of Firefighters, proudly representing the 15th district and all of eastern Canada. I am determined to continue playing a crucial role in the protection and safety of Montreal's citizens while working to improve the working conditions and well-being of my fellow firefighters.
