Background

About Chris Rowell

I have spent my career in the electricity industry: proposing, assessing and implementing change. Over the years I have progressed from analysing change to successfully directing it. Operating for a central industry body builds a unique understanding of operating under an industry code and working within a broad customer and stakeholder landscape. I passionately believe in a collaborative ethos, building strong teams, developing individuals and clear communication. More recently I have taken a break, exchanging office life for the outdoor life where I have been indulging a passion and working on various garden restoration projects. I started out as a Board Scholar of the Central Electricity Generating Board and studied Engineering Science. I worked in nuclear safety, coal fired generation, and transmission planning prior to entering settlements. I was seconded to work on the introduction of supply competition and subsequently managed the development of these arrangements and the transition to the New Electricity Trading Arrangements. Within ELEXON I have held the roles of Head of Trading Arrangements, Head of Change Delivery and Smart Programme Director, before taking my current position leading Transformation Delivery.
