About Chris Ryan

Presently working on my PhD at UNB and as a research associate at Mount Allison University. I am examining how we can shift our high schools to be the schools we need for our future society. Formerly secondary school Math, Physics and Philosophy teacher. In an ongoing capacity, I am exploring how we can work the 21st Century skills that students need in the future into already overstuffed curriculum. Are the ways that we teach, assess and give feedback outdated? Do they have any relevance in the "real" world? How can teachers make this change within the bounds of the current system? What policy changes need to be made to create the 21st Century Learning Environment? Juxtaposed with this is the ever increasing body of knowledge that we are learning about how the human brain learns. How do our current educational practices and policies work with and interfere with what we know about the brain? Constantly looking to explore how all of this can create better classrooms and schools while using the best technology as an educational tool. I am also interested in working with leaders and organizations to improve their leadership capacity.
