Chris leads Lam Partners’ Washington DC Studio with a passionate focus on serving clients in their respective lighting needs and aspirations. Working as a collaborative team player in developing elegant design products that strive for transcendence and sustainability, Chris views the design process and end product as an interdependent relationship that requires rigorous design scrutiny from beginning to end. With some 25 years working primarily as a designer, manager, and technician, Chris has a rich knowledge base in the world of lighting design.With a foundation as an architect, Chris approaches design problems as welcome opportunities to explore formal, meaningful, and/or pragmatic issues expressed or manifested with light. Working closely with a variety of clients, Chris has worked on many award winning world class projects over the past two decades. Art Museums, History Museums, Civic Memorials, Corporate Offices, Speculative Office Buildings, Government Office and Research facilities, Medical Care and Research facilities, Restaurants, Retail, Gardens, Outdoor Sculpture, Private Residences, and Prototypical Experiments. A brief list of projects that exemplify the range of work executed in the past three years-DGS HQ, Washington DC-WMATA HQ, Alexandria VA-Rubell Museum, Washington DC-Gallery 64, Washington DC-EPA Conference Center, Washington DC-Catholic University of America - Garvey Hall, Washington DC-Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Washington DCChris spent several years in monasteries as a contemplative and studied theology concentrating in ritual spaces. Prior to this Chris worked as an architect primarily in Philadelphia, after receiving a B.Arch degree from VA Tech. Chris is a registered Architect in Virginia and a member of the AIA, IALD, and IES.
