About Chris Sutherland
Seven years in the environmental consulting industry. My primary focus has been gas migration and surface casing vent flow AER compliance testing for oil and gas clients. Requires largely independent and self motivated work. Experienced testing in a wide array of environments (grassland, forest, wetland, oilsands) year-round. I am currently the field lead at Vertex. This involves training and mentoring new hires, reviewing field work from co-workers and collaborating with my project manager to increase operational efficiencies and overall client satisfaction. I've also worked to update our field work practice and EH & S documents. Since January 2025, I directly manage our field technicians, review and approve invoices and communicate directly with clients. My time at the University of Alberta included a degree in biology and a degree in rangeland management. My coursework was wide ranging and diverse. It included plant and vegetation courses, fire management and behavior, rangeland management for cattle grazing and other stakeholders.
