About Chris Swane

Chris is a Partner of Bennett + Bennett and Registered Surveyor (Land QLD & NSW) with over 25 years’ experience in the land development industry, ranging from underground tunnel projects to highrise, mixed use residential, commercial, civil and environmentally sensitive rural developments. During his career he has undertaken many roles from chainman to Survey Manager, Project Manager, Brisbane Office Manager, HR Manager, Operations Manager and served on the executive board as Director of Resources. He has taken a keen interest in the industry since being a young graduate and is passionate about the role the wider profession has in contributing spatial information to the community. He enjoys the friendships of likeminded people and has served the industry in many roles from unification committees to Town Group Convener, Chair of Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute QLD 2008 Conference Committee, 2011 Industry Natural Disaster Response Committee, 2012 Transit of Venus Committee, Queensland Region Committee, National Land Surveying Commission, QLD Spatial Reform Committee, Destination Spatial Committee and Chair of Qld Land Surveying Commission. Chris also represented on IPWEAQ committee to review Queensland Streets to support the State Government's Walkable Neighborhood Policy for best practice Urban Design Principles. During his career Chris has made many presentations to industry and fellow professionals re new innovative solutions to projects and application of legislation. He has been fortunate to be called as an expert witness an many varied Court cases involving survey interpretation of measurement, volumes, height and legislation. He enjoys the company of fellow professionals and sharing knowledge and was very pleased to have been awarded Spatial Professional of the Year in 2012 & 2015 and a Fellow of the Institute in 2016.
