About Chris Thorpe

I started in the Oilfield Tubular Good, inspection Industry in 1985 as a helper. Within two years,I Became a level II MT/PT inspector traveling to rig sites inspecting the Bottom Hole Assembly components and assisting with the Drill Stem inspection. Eventually,I move in to position as the Lead Drill Stem unit operator,certified in ML (M.F.L/Magnetic Flux Leakage) level II inspector plus working part time in the B.H,A unit. About two years later I move in to the Roll has a 4 function M.F.L unit Operator, inspecting new and used tubing and casing.As a the operator of the 4 function unit I would assist with the Pipe yard management and Inventory control plus other N.D.T operations such as hydrostatic testing. I was promoted to the area manager for the Laredo and South Texas area. With the ups and downs in the Oil and Gas industry I found my self working for several different companies,but I always maintained the same mind set, to always accept a challenge and gain knowledge. I have been fortunate to have had several Mentors in my career such has My Father Don Thorpe Plus Joe Mackin,and Bob Cameron. In 2013, I moved in to the Quality Department for IOS and worked on updating the Drill Stem Inspection Standard Operating Procedures and field training of inspectors. I also started studying for my ASNT Level certifications which i set as a life Goal. In In 9/14 I passed the ASNT Basic Level exam and the MT Level Exam. currently, I am studying for the remaining Level certifications.
