He lives in Davis, California with his wife Shannon and three children. Chris joined ESnet in 2009 to work on advanced optical technologies and network flow statistics. He is currently focused on core network engineering and the testing and production deployment of DWDM and 400+ Gbps technologies within ESnet. Prior to joining ESnet, he was one of the systems/optical network engineers for the NSF DRAGON project, and co-PI on an NSF GENI project. Chris has also directly contributed to several of Internet2's early dynamic network provisioning projects, such as HOPI and DCN. Chris's research interests include high-performance networking and network protocols; dynamic network resource provisioning; network tuning issues; end-to-end performance; network security; hybrid network traffic engineering; optoelectronics and photonics; DWDM networks; cyber security and intrusion detection systems; data-intensive computing and high-performance storage systems.
