About Chris Turner

An experienced Head of Finance and now Finance Director, presently leading the Newsprinters Finance Management Accounting team. I strive to make a difference and add value beyond just accounting, to my team, business stakeholders, and the wider finance function. As part of the Newsprinters Senior Leadership team and reporting to the CEO, I enjoy working with stakeholders, building relationships and driving changes to meet the evolving needs of the business and its staff. I am always seeking to continue my personal development and take a great interest in the theory behind individual behaviour and performance: I was selected for the prestigious News UK Emerging Leaders Program (ELP), completing the course in 2020. With only 12 people selected from across the business each year, this programme consisted of 3 week long residential courses over a 6 month period, aimed at improving individual and business performance. Subject matter included leadership, team work, communication skills, and is taught using an innovative field based approach, taking us out of the classroom and away from our desks. In October 2023 I completed training towards a formal coaching qualification, passing with merit. This training included 40+ hours of coaching practice, 60+ hours of classroom and online taught modules, a practical assessment and a written assignment. I have an accreditation that allows me to provide coaching to individuals inside and outside my organisation, to help them fulfil their potential.
