About Chris Vass

April 2015 I made the major life decision to change careers. This led me back to OU as a graduate student in the Masters of Accountancy program. Working full time, taking classes full time, all while helping coach my son's baseball teams and attending all my kids' activities made for a full plate, but I loved every minute of it. While working on my MAcc, I completed the requirements to sit for the CPA exam and obtained my Graduate Certificate in Management Info Systems (aka MIS or MIT before the name was changed). My accounting coursework focused on audit mechanics, fraud detection, tax policy, and research (tax and general). I studied aspects of finance such as derivatives, CAPM valuation, time value of money (TVM), and investment portfolio management. I also studied Excel/VBA, Cloud computing, data analysis (e.g. NodeXL, R, LIWC, AWS) and database management (e.g. Access, SQL). At PwC, I have worked with a diverse client base and provided various services to clients around the country. I have worked with Mid-sized tech companies, manufacturing companies spinning off from a parent company, Large and mid-sized Oil and Gas companies, and biotech companies, amongst others. I have provided remediation services following a PCAOB finding, performed integrated and non-integrated audit activities, helped to ensure the integrity of financial statements, performed physical inventory observations at several different client locations, and provided internal audit (business process enhancement) services. My interests are varied and include control environment optimization, fraud prevention and detection, and the utilization of emerging and robust technologies. I am excited to be starting with RGP this October, working on SOX testing for one of our clients.
