About Chris Walmsley

My experience in the software and computer industry has evolved steadily over the years. I started, right out of undergrad, working as a RA at Queen's. Most of this was relatively individual and self directed work, but it did provide the opportunity to apply my skills to fields outside the traditional computer science related fields. I continued working for various research groups at Queen's while working on my Masters degree. I eventually begain working with a professor in a private consulting operation. This provided me with some early experience working with different clients, and also building my first full Windows application from the ground up. Since then, I worked for increasingly larger companies, but all hi tech start-ups. Most recently, I have been running a small software company of up to 15 people. I'm responsible for all aspects of the technical operation. We develop a number of complex applications, managed customer support, do our own IT, provided robust hosting, employ streamlined development processes, and much more. I am always looking to expand my experiences and my knowledge. I find satisfaction in learning new material and technologies and thrive on new challenges. Specialties: My recent experience focuses on software architecture, development, project management and all the goodies needed to make a small company tick. Out software is heavily network oriented (servers, clients, protocols, etc.), and we employed load balancers, redundant database systems, redundant firewalls, and all the necessary stuff to provide a bulletproof platform for our corporate users.
