About Chris Walth

I have been responsiable for building the firewall/network security environment from a single small 2 interface firewall to 9 firewalls totaling over 66 interfaces in a distributed environment. I have been part of the design, implementation, and daily running of a remote systems management environment. I designed and built our veritas Netbackup environment which backs up Solaris, HP-UX, and windows servers. I had a key role in designing the initial ASP production environment for our appliaction and spearheaded the initiative to deploy solaris 10 with containers and reduce our server count by 45 servers. I have been part of our disaster recovery initiative for the last 10 years which includes doing an anual test at a cold site as well as designing and building out our hot/warm site. I do a lot of scripting for processes in both shell and perl. These cover everything from transmissions for customers, filtering log files, audit reporting, performance monitoring,etc. My goals are to be in a position that allows me to expand my current knowledge base and provide new challenges in an environment that encourages this growth. I don't have much for certifications, but wouldn't mind getting some. I would like to spend time getting into network and computer forensics and penetration testing. I am always up for a new challenge and look forward to taking something new from the idea stage through implementation. I feel that this is one of my strongest attributes to be able to take something new and get it functioning in a short period of time. Then take it to the next level and get everything working in the required environment.
